How to improve Brain Performance
Everyone want to increase their brain capacity and enhance & boost brain performance and mental health.
New researches in the field of neuroscience shows that if you add the following in your daily life then you can actually improve your brain’s functioning and formation and improvement of neurons(brain cells)-
1.Aerobic Exercise
Research and experiments show that if aerobic exercise such as running, rope skipping, etc. are done on a regular basis (at least 30min daily) then the formation of new brain cells especially neuroglial cells take place inside the brain which results in a better cognitive performance. When some rats were run for several consecutive days, it was found that a large number of new neurons formed in their hippocampus region. Later the studies on humans also proved the positive impact of aerobic exercise in the improvement of brain cells. So you should have at least half an hour of aerobic exercise.
2.Efficient sleep
Sleep is one of the most important thing that is needed for a healthy brain. During sleep our body regenerates the damaged cells and tissues i.e., body repairs itself during sleep. The storage and removal of memory also take place during sleep. So it is advised to have a sleep of at least 7–9 hours. During sleep, new connections are formed between neurons that is responsible for the storage and creation of new memories.
3.Healthy diet
It is extremely important that you should take care what you are uptaking as food. Uptaking Omega-3 fatty acids rich food is extremely good for brain cells which have many sources like cod liver oil, nuts and seeds (such as flaxseed, chia seeds, and walnuts), plant oils (such as flaxseed oil, soybean oil, and canola oil), etc. Ghee(clarified butter made from the milk of a buffalo or cow, used in South Asian cooking) also have good effect on brain.
4.Drink coffee
Many researches show that drinking coffee can improve your brain health and also keeps you away from depression, anxiety, stress, etc. It has also shown positive effects in Alzheimer disease. But just be sure that you should not drink coffee before going to bed as it will not let you sleep.
5.Meditation
Who else doesn’t know the benefits of yoga. For a healthy life we should perform yoga at least for 30–40 minutes a day. It not only helps to remove stress and depression but also makes the mind calm. Studies have shown that a daily meditation of 15–30 minutes can increase grey matter in the brain which results in a better cognitive performance.
6.Music
It not only leads to a better social life but also to a better metal health. It can help to get rid of stress, depression, bad day, etc. and enhances our mood. One of the amazing fact is that our entire(almost) brain is used when we listen music. So it is very beneficial for a better mental health and can improve the overall productivity of our brain. So we should listen music at least 20 min or should listen 7–8 songs in a day for a better cognitive performance and happy mood.
7. Be Socialized
Various studies and researches show that those people who have a good friend circle and spend at least half an hour with friends and other people have a happier mind and a better mental performance than those people who remain isolated or don’t have a good friend circle. So you should spend some time with your friends and family, this will not only make you feel happy but also makes you smarter.
8. Sex
It might sound strange but some recent studies show that having a great sex can really boost your memory power, cognitive performance and mood but don’t corelate it with masturbation which have shown negative effects on brain and body. Those couples, who have a frequent sex after 15–20 days, are found to have more number of neurons in their brain resulting in a better mental health.
9. Avoid Drugs and Alcohol
It is well known fact that Drugs and alcohol have a negative effect on body. Not only they make us unhealthy but also causes degeneration of neurons in the brain resulting into loss of memories, difficulty in learning, inability to focus and concentrate and many other serious problems.
10. Over-Eating
For a healthy life, you should have a balanced diet. Over eating not only causes obesity but also slows down your brain’s performance. Along with this it speeds up your cell division rate which in turn speeds up the ageing process. That’s why you might have also heard the irony “Eat less and eat healthy”.
